Definition: This certification is designed for programmers who want to prove their knowledge of the Java 2 development platform, who are experienced in using the basic syntax and structure of the Java[tm] programming language, and who will be developing complex, production-level applications.

To Obtain:

  • Must be a Sun Certified Programmer for Java 2 Platform.
  • Must complete the Sun Certified Developer for Java 2 Platform, Programming Assignment (CX-310-252A). This exam costs approximately $250.
  • Must complete exam 310-027: the Sun Certified Developer for Java 2 Platform essay exam. This exam costs approximately $150.
